Meals & Snacks

Snacks

Daily snacks are included in the session cost and are provided throughout the day.

Snacks consist of a combination of savoury items such as toast, crumpets, muffins and breadsticks with a selection of fruit or raw vegetables, milk and water.

Snacks are available throughout the morning and afternoon on our 'self serve tables'; and we encourage the children to serve themselves.

Our 'Early Start' and 'Late Stay' sessions include Breakfast and Tea. Breakfast includes a wide variety of foods such as; porridge, toast, english muffins, selection of cereal, fresh fruit and milk.

Our tea menu includes a main and fresh fruit for pudding.

Nursery Lunches

At Robin Hill, we take pride in the fact that we offer meals freshly cooked on the premises which cost just £2.25 per meal. This includes a healthy pudding following each meal. Children may of course bring a packed lunch from home if parents prefer.

We provide wholesome, nutritious, homemade meals such as Lemon Chicken, New Potatoes and Vegetables and Homemade Fish Pie served with Vegetables. We are able to cater for specific dietary requirements which can be discussed during the registration process. *Please note: Allergen information is available upon request.

We have been helping our local council promote healthy lifestyles by taking part in a scheme called 'Healthy Active Little Ones'. The coordinators of the scheme have sampled our menus and we are proud to inform you that we have received the 'OUTSTANDING FOOD Award' from the Children's Food Trust for the second year running!

Here's what they said about us; "Robin Hill Nursery puts serious effort in the food it serves. All dishes are homemade by the settings own chef who has attended the Eat Better Start Better training and she has planned the menu following the voluntary guidelines. All ingredients, where possible, are seasonal and fresh and therefore low in salt, sugar and saturated fat. Children's questionnaires are used to get the children's voices heard regarding favourite snacks and lunches. Children serve the food themselves whilst being supervised by staff to make sure correct portion sizes are served. Children and staff engage in lively conversations throughout meal times. Snacks are available throughout the day at a snack bar where children can serve themselves when they are hungry, promoting independence. Robin Hill Nursery actively promotes healthy living for staff, children and their families. The setting has good communication with parents regarding the food served in the setting and clearly their varied, nutritious and delicious menu is a talking point to all staff, children and parents".
